Headlines in Healthcare

AI charting tools have high error rates for Black patients

AI charting tools are producing hallucinations, missing key clinical details, and showing higher error rates for Black patients, according to Nurse.org. Despite this, nurses remain legally responsible for reviewing and co-signing these notes before they become part of the medical record. As adoption grows, researchers warn that regulation has not kept up, leaving nurses accountable for documentation they did not create.

Nurse-led care delivers similar outcomes to doctors

Nurse-led care can deliver similar outcomes to physician-led care across a range of specialties, based on a review of 82 studies covering more than 28,000 patients, according to research cited by Medscape. In some cases, outcomes were even slightly better. As staffing shortages and patient demand grow, this model is increasingly being used to expand access to care without compromising quality.

Float pool nurses report some of the lowest job satisfaction

Float pool nurses report some of the lowest job satisfaction in nursing, as hospitals increasingly rely on them to move between units to fill staffing gaps, according to Nurse.org. While the role often comes with higher pay and broader experience, many nurses say the constant adaptation, lack of consistency, and limited support make it difficult to sustain long term.
