Headlines in Healthcare
Healthcare drives 75% of US job growth
An analysis from the Peterson-KFF Health System Tracker reveals that healthcare accounted for approximately three out of every four U.S. jobs added between September 2025 and September 2026. The sector added 372,000 jobs during this period, easily outpacing all other industries with a 2% growth rate. Healthcare now represents a record 11.7% of the entire United States workforce.
New healthcare laws
Several major healthcare laws and regulatory updates took effect on October 1, bringing notable shifts to both state and federal frameworks. At the federal level, Section 71109 of HR 1 narrowed Medicaid eligibility by limiting federal funding for full Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program benefits to U.S. citizens. Additionally, the legislative updates include significant changes to Medicaid financing, a major overhaul of Connecticut’s certificate-of-need process, and the implementation of a new hospital staffing framework in Maryland.
Mayo Clinic confirms no data breach occurred
Mayo Clinic reports no evidence of unauthorized access following an Asymmetric Security report that claimed AI agents probed its website. The organization investigated the claims after the firm identified activity targeting several high-profile institutions.
